Mira Sohlén is a designer and artist based in Antwerp, Belgium. Originally from Sweden, she grew up in Paris and then studied fashion design at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute and the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. 

Mira Sohlén creates tapestries that are made from a unique method of tiling. Each tapestry is made from handmade tufted shapes in wool, which are then sewn together. Inspired by improvised shape study, she continues to explore the infinitive interplay between positive and negative space. 

“I wanted to find a way to challenge classical craftsmanship but with a modern approach. I never envision the final outcome of each work; my vision is my process. Within the chaos; I aim to find patterns of comforting unity”.
